Community Church

Cleadon Community Project

A lively local church in a deprived inner city area approached us to advise on re-using this redundant church hall and ancillary buildings dating from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, to support their modern Christian response to inner city problems. Neglected and semi derelict, the buildings had suffered from vandalism, leakage, pigeon infestation, dry rot and a fire outbreak, but offered flexibility and the potential for adaptation. Upgraded and adapted to our design they are now used for a range of social initiatives, as well as a worship centre for the growing congregation.

The complex provided considerable potential.
Dry rot Vandalism and neglected maintenance had left the building in a very poor state
