Pavilion

Dated 1925, this Category B listed pavilion is one of the last works of George Alexander Kerr (1865-1927). Although its simplicity and frame construction are more characterisitc of the Modern Movement, the ceramic tiling, bracketed loggia pier details and segmental motifs are the trademarks of his Scottish Art Nouveau style. It is set off by a spacious formal setting between two bowling greens and bowling remains an important local sport. A report by Robin Kent Architecture & Conservation showed that it required a range of conservation repairs and restoration work to save it from accelerating decay and restore its character and appearance.
