Alloa Pavilion

Our conservation report on this category B listed pavilion provided the basis for its refurbishment. Set between two well-used bowling greens, it dates from 1925, and is one of the last works of George Alexander Kerr (1865-1927). Its simplicity and concrete frame construction are more characteristic of the Modern Movement, but the ceramic tiling, bracketed loggia pier details and segmental motifs are the trademarks of Kerr's Scottish Art Nouveau style. In addition to defining its historic value, our report showed that it required a range of conservation repairs and restoration work to save it from accelerating decay and restore its special character and appearance.
