Mill Alterations
Years of piecemeal alteration had left this important eighteenth century water mill and attached miller's house in a sorry state. Like many local corn mills, it became redundant around the turn of the century due to competition from steam rolling mills and imported grain, and despite being converted to a saw mill, eventually became two dwellings. After carrying out historical research to inform the proposals, we prepared a design for restoring windows and other features and forming a new porch to help unify the fragmented facade and enhance the appearance and functionality of the building, as part of converting it into a single family home. We have since gained planning permission for a new garage and workshop wing in a similar style. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
