Stirling Old Town Cemetery comprises a group of historic city centre cemeteries, the earliest dating from the 17th century and on the site of the medieval tournament ground of Stirling Castle. In addition to many gravestones and tombs, they contain a number of unique symbolic monuments, such as the pyramid above, statues of the heroes of the Protestant Reformation, and water features, which together form a religious 'theme park' of great historic interest for understanding the development of church and society in Scotland.

We carried out detailed surveys and reported on the condition of all of the cemeteries, including obtaining specialist reports on stone and metal conservation; and recommended conservation and enhancement proposals to enable grant applications. Subsequent work based on this has helped to ensure the survival of this important and extensive heritage asset for the enjoyment of visitors and local people alike.
