Tullibody Auld Kirk from the N

Tullibody in Clackmannanshire was the site of Kenneth McAlpin's camp before the battle of Cambuskenneth in 834, which led to the uniting of the Scottish and Pictish kingdoms, the beginning of Scotland as a nation. Tullibody Auld Kirk was in existence before 1170, but the present ruined building adjacent to the present parish church was probably rebuilt in 1539. As well as being a scheduled ancient monument, it is a category A listed building. Inside are a number of important memorial tablets including monuments dating from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and war memorials in bronze marble and sandstone. After being called in to advise on the eighteenth century birdcage bellhead at the W end, we prepared a comprehensive conservation strategy for the building which included historical research and a conditon report.
