Surgeons' Hall
The home of one of the oldest surgical incorporations in the world, dating from 1505, the present headquarters building of the Royal College of Surgeons was designed by William Playfair in 1832, and is one of Edinburgh's' most important buildings. As well as being an important feature of Georgian Edinburgh, it can boast furnishings and fittings designed by the architect as well as important historic scientific and artistic collections. Robin Kent Architecture & Conservation carried out detailed access audits of all parts of the buildings and advised on access planning, as part of the recent comprehensive refurbishment project. The work included access improvements to the famous pathology museums and dental museum, to enable them to be better appreciated by disabled people and other students and tourists.
