Brechin Road, Kirriemuir

Conservation areas do not only expand; in a number of cases we have recommended reducing the boundaries of conservation areas that for various reasons have become unmanageably large, or where the original quality has been eroded over time.

An attractive subruban road may not have the special character required for designation as a conservation area

In the above example we were called in by a local resident to inspect and prepare an independent opinion on Angus Council's proposal to designate Brechin Road, Kirriemuir, as a conservation area. We were able to advise that the area proposed by the Council did not have have the special qualities required to merit designation, and the proposal was rejected.

We have also assisted other architects and acted for local residents in negotiations about development proposals with Council conservation officers, as well as acting in planning appeals and inquiries.
