The Old Smiddy

Smiddy extension with terne coated steel roof replacing shoeing shed, and cedar boarded walls

This large village smithy is Category B listed but was disused and falling into disrepair, while the adjacent blacksmith's cottage urgently needed upgrading to cater for modern living. Robin Kent Architecture & Conservation designed several alternatve proposals, including altering and extending the cottage to link with the smithy, and extending and converting the smithy to form a separate new house, to preserve its historic character and the contribution it makes to the village.
