Cromarty East Parish ChurchOriginally a medieval parish church, Cromarty East Parish Church was reordered at the Reformation in 1560 and largely rebuilt in the seventeenth century, but has hardly changed since, making it one of Scotland's oldest unaltered church buildings. This almost unique time capsule of Scottish Post-Reformation churches is now in the care of the Scottish Redundant Churches Trust and its conservation is supported by a variety of community activities, including concerts and exhibitions. However, like so many historic buildings it has little to offer disabled visitors and was inaccessible even to wheelchair users. To help improve the situation, Robin Kent Architecture & Conservation carried out a detailed access audit and made a recommendations for changes that would both preserve the historic character of the church and make it more accessible to a wider range of disabled people and others. The consultancy has also carried out an access audit of St Peter's, Sandwick and advised the charity on its disability access policy for all its properties.
