Boulmer

a view of Boulmer from the beach

The conservation area scoping study of the Northumberland seaside settlement of Boulmer, carried out by Robin Kent Architecture & Conservation, included basic archival research and site inspections to highlight its special architectural and townscape features and historic interest, and make recommendations for negative and neutral areas. It recommended statutory protection of a potential Boulmer conservation area and outlined the boundaries, resulting in further detailed studies and consultations.

The historic lifeboat house (below) is just one important feature of this atmospheric and picturesque village that the report considered should be preserved as a reminder of its historic relationship with the sea, valued by local people.
