The fine limewashed exterior

St Peter's Kirk, in Sandwick, Orkney, clearly visible from the international heritage site of Skara Brae, is a remarkably preserved pre-Disruption parish church, one of only a few in Scotland untouched by modern innovations such as electricity and running water! We carried out an access audit and made recommendations for possible improvements to enable more people, including disabled people, to enjoy the special atmosphere of this historic church, which has been restored by the Scottish Redundant Churches Trust.
