This typical coaching inn dates from the mid eighteenth century, when it was an important stage on journeys between Edinburgh, Newcastle and London. Robin Kent Architecture & Conservation carried out historic research and site evaluations to determine its date and historic development, and prepared a conservation appraisal to inform the clients' recent comprehensive restoration and refurbishment.
