Portfolio : Monuments

The commemorative and symbolic functions of monuments and public sculpture make them especially important parts of our built heritage. We have advised on a wide range of tombs, monuments, memorials, follies and other structures that embody cultural values as their primary function. This involves historic research to define significance, diagnosis of defects and failures, often including bringing together teams of consultants and specialists; and the specification of minimal and unobtrusive repairs, access and presentation. The conservation aim usually includes preserving the 'patina of age', or accepting natural decay processes as part of the special character of the monuments. Clients to date include private individuals, heitage societies and local councils.
