Profile

Robin Kent's consultancy was founded in 1981 in North Kent, moved to Bedford in 1984 and re-established in Scotland in 1997. It was incorporated as Robin Kent Limited in 2003 and is an RIAS Practice Member and an RIBA Chartered Practice.

We aim to provide the best advice on the conservation and use of the architectural heritage.

We specialise in the conservation and restoration of historic buildings and ancient monuments, including new architectural design in sensitive situations; the conversion and rehabilitation of redundant buildings; ancient monument stabilisation and presentation; archival and technical research; historic building recording and condition surveys; conservation area character appraisals, audits and evaluations; disability access consultancy and audits. We are committed to sustainability and a member of AECB.

We can bring together tailor-made teams of top consultants and specialists to work on historic buildings and sites and have worked in England, Scotland and Wales, with recent projects in Northumberland and the West of Scotland. Our European architectural experience includes France, Spain and Israel. In addition to many private owners, recent clients include national and local government, large estates, professional and educational institutions, building preservation and amenity societies, charities and churches.

Our office is based in a Georgian town house in the outstanding conservation area of Duns, a Scottish Borders' town about mid way between Edinburgh and Newcastle-upon-Tyne, within easy reach of the whole of central Scotland and the North of England and only a few hours by rail from London.
